12.x ISE Simulator: Text Strings are not display correctly in GUI

The STRING type in VHDL is not being displayed correctly in the GUI, even with radix set to ASCII.

For example, if the text string said "Hello" then I would expect to see in the waveform view displayed is "Hello"; however, 'H','e','l','l','o' is displayed.

This is a known issue in ISIM and is planned to be fixed in ISE 13.1 software.

To work around the issue, use HDL text I/O functions such as "report" in VHDL and "$display" in Verilog to write out strings to the console prompt.
