Virtex-6 FPGA ML605 Evaluation Kit - What is the maximum clock rate that may be supplied through SMA connector?

Description

(UG534), ML605 Hardware User Guide, states that an external clock may be provided on J55 & J58.

What is the maximum clock rate that can be supplied in this way?

What is the maximum clock rate that can be supplied to the ML605 via the HPC FMC connector?

Solution

The clock signal from J55, J58 (SMA Connectors) and the HPC FMC connector goes to the GC pins (M22, L23, K23 & K24) of the FPGA on the ML605.

Since the ML605 has a -1 speed grade device on board, you should be able to provide up to 700MHz of a clock through these connectors.

See Table 59 of (DS152) for more details.
