13.1 PlanAhead - "ERROR: [HD-DB 2] No netlist file has been marked as the top netlist in the fileset for Reconfigurable Module"

Description

I create a Reconfigurable Partition (RP) on an instance and then mark that Reconfigurable Module (RM) as active, and get the following error:

"ERROR: [HD-DB 2] No netlist file has been marked as the top netlist in the fileset for Reconfigurable Module 'reconfig_leds:module_1'. The Reconfigurable Module is unable to be loaded."

Solution

This error has been seen in the following cases:
  • The RM in question is a module that is not a direct descendant of top. In this case, the GUI is not building the proper RM fileset name.
  • The RM contains a backslash(\). This can happen if the RP is created in EDK and then brought into PlanAhead tool and/or is included as part of a name. The (\) is treated as an escape character, therefore, the complete name is not found.

To work around the second issue, set the property for the Tcl command line using another (\) to escape any in the hierarchy name, for example

Change:
"set_property edif_top_file "/proj/test/PR/resources/Math/adder/rp.ngc" [get_filesets math_0~math_0\~USER_LOGIC_I\~rp_instance#MathAdd]
To:
"set_property edif_top_file "/proj/test/PR/resources/Math/adder/rp.ngc" [get_filesets math_0~math_0\\~USER_LOGIC_I\\~rp_instance#MathAdd]

Both of these issues are fixed in the ISE Design Suite 13.2.
