SelectIO - 8.1 Hyperlynx Giving Unexpected IBIS simulation results: Low P and N Crossing or Unexpected Ringing


With Mentor Graphics release of 8.1i HyperLynx, some simulations give unexpected results when compared to HSPICE or Hyperlynx 8.0 (and prior releases).

Some of the symptoms observed include:

-Differential signals may not have expected P/N crossing points. For example, with DIFF_SSTL15, it is expected thatP and N are to cross at 0.75V (Vcco/2), but simulations in Hyperlynx 8.1 show a much lower crossing point.

-Signals show unexpected Duty Cycle Distortion

-Differential signals terminated with a 100 ohm resistor might show unexpected ringing.


To see proper simulation behavior in Hyperlynx, either use a release prior to 8.0 of Hyperlynx or install Hyperlynx V8.1.1 Update 3. Update 3 for Hyperlynx 8.1 should be available from Mentor Graphics at the end of June 2011.
