LogiCORE FIR Compiler v6.2 - Why is the output for a Fractional Rate in bursts, rather than at regular intervals?

Description

Why is the output for a Fractional Rate in bursts, rather than at regular intervals?

Solution

The FIR Compiler v5.0 would output the Fractional Rate filter data at regular intervals, but when the FIR Compiler was redesigned for AXI4 Stream, the output was changed to bursts.

To work around this, add an AXI4-Stream FIFO on the output to allow downstream IP to consume the data at whatever rate is appropriate.
