Project Navigator - Is there a way to write out a non-default bit file through the Process Properties?

I need to create a bit file in an alternative directory to the project directory, and also with a different name to the NCD file which is the default.

For example, if "design.ncd" is the NCD file, then by default the bit file is "design.bit".

I want to change this within the Process Properties for the "Generate Programming File". Can I do this?

Writing a bitstream to an alternate name or location is not supported within Project Navigator. There is no way to include the output file name in the BitGen Process Properties.

The available options are to run BitGen from thecommand line, or copy the file after generation as follows:

  • Run BitGen from the command line: "bitgen -intstyle ise -f filename.ut filename.ncd test.bit".
This results in a bit file named "test.bit", as opposed to "filename.bit".
  • Alternatively, you could run BitGen from within Project Navigator, then copy the created bit file to the new location and name of your choice.
