LogiCORE IP Video Scaler v3.0, v4.0 - Why are the last few lines of my output video frame missing when upscaling?

Description

Why are the last few lines of my output video frame missing when upscaling?

Solution

This can happen if you use the wrong formula for calculation the Horizontal Shrink Factor (HSF) and Vertical Shrink Factor (VSF).

Note: In the CORE Generator GUI, these values are incorrectly called the Horizontal Scaler Factor and Vertical Scale Factor.

There are are two different formulas in the User Guide, the correct one is as follows:

  • HSF = 2^20* (input width / output width)
  • VSF = 2^20*(input lines / output lines)
