13.4 EDK - How can I use Tcl within XMD to connect to a different device in my JTAG chain?

Description

I am currently debugging a different FPGA in my chain than position 1. How can I do this?

Solution

In XMD, the default command to accomplish this is:

connect mb mdm -debugdevice devicenr [JTAG_POSITION]

In orderto add a simpler command to XMD's command list, as referenced in (Xilinx Answer 46250), use the process below:

proc custom_connect {elfName JTAGPos} {
connect mb mdm -debugdevice devicenr $JTAGPos
dow $elfName
run
}

This new command can beinvoked by typing:

custom_connect [elfname].elf [jtag_position_number]
