LogiCORE Video Scaler v3.0, v4.0, v5.0 - Why does the Video Scaler start producing outputs lines earlier than expected when using the cropping feature?

Description

Why does the Video Scaler start producing outputs lines earlier than expected when using the cropping feature?

Solution

This is a known issue with Video Scaler v3.0, v4.0, and v5.0 that is to be fixed in a future version.

The problem occurs when the start line for the cropped section of the active area is a number that falls between the Frame Reset and the falling edge of VBLANK.

This issue is also addressed in the Video Scaler v4.0 Rev4 patch. To obtain the patch, see (Xilinx Answer 41488).

This issue is also addressed in the Video Scaler v5.0 Rev2 patch. To obtain the patch, see (Xilinx Answer 45439).
