AR# 47307 7 Series FPGA Transceivers - How to connect the receiver pins MGTRXP/N when RX not used?

Description

The guidelines for the MGTRXP pins when the receiver is not used is contradictory between v1.4 and v1.3 of the 7 Series FPGA GTX/GTH Transceivers User Guide (UG476).

In version 1.4 it states "If a receiver is not used, connect the associated pin pair to ground"

In version 1.3 it states "If a receiver is not used, leave the associated pin pair unconnected"

Which is correct?

Solution

The recommendation is to tie the unused RX pins to ground. This is included in the user guide UG476 version 1.4 or later.
