Why are my outputs always driven to zero when using Vivado Synthesis?

Solution

This is a known issue in the Video Scaler v6.00.a when generated from Vivado Design Suite 2012.1.

This issue can be worked around by changing the project synthesis options in Vivado to XST.

  • Select the "Synthesis Settings" link on the left hand side of the Vivado GUI and choose "XST Default" from the drop-down menu.

This issue is fixed in Vivado Design Suite 2012.2.
