Vivado 2012.2 - Why does the scalar port count not match the number of signals listed in the I/O ports tab?

Description

Why does the scalar port count not match the number of signals listed in the I/O Ports tab of Vivado Design Suite 2012.2?

Solution

The I/O Ports tab lists the scalar signals and the number of signals that are not of a multi-bit bus type. However, the scalar signal listincludes differential signals in the list. The differential signals are listed on one row of the report, with the differential pairs occupying separate columns of the row. These differential signals also count for two signals instead of one.

To obtain a list of signals that matches the reported number, perform the following command in the TCL console:

get_ports * -filter {BUS_WIDTH == "" }
