Video Timing Controller (VTC) v5.01.a - Why does the VTC Generation always produce 720p output timing signals at startup when the AXI4-Lite interface is used?

Description

Why does the VTC Generation always produce 720p output timing signals at startup when the AXI4-Lite interface is used?

Solution

This usually happens if the REG_UPDATE bit in the CONTROL register is not set to '1' after changing the VTC Generator timing parameters.

Setting the REG_UPDATE bit to '1' tells the Video Timing Controller that the register settings have been changed.

See the Video Timing Controller Product Guide PG016 for more information.
