2013.1 Vivado - Archive feature will corrupt any single file over 4G if added to the zip file

The compression method used by the Vivado 2013.1 Archive feature to add a large file to a zip archive, will only add the first 4,294,967,295 (i.e. 2^32) bytes of the file.

This  would essentially corrupt any file greater than 4G in the .zip archive.

This issue has been fixed in Vivado release 2013.2.

To work around the issue in Vivado 2013.1 and earlier a 3rd party compression tool should be used to archive the project directory.
