SysGen - MATLAB crashes during simulation of the CIC Compiler without error/warning/message

Description

I am attempting to run a simulation of my model containing the CIC Compiler block, but MATLAB keeps crashing without any messages.

What is wrong?

How do I debug this problem?

Solution

It is likely that this is the result of an internal exception/crash of the ISim engine (which is used on the backend to run the simulation). This occurs due to an illegal run-time condition passed to the CIC Compiler block.

In one case, it was discovered that the crash was being caused by passing a programmable-rate CIC filter the value of '6' or '4' for their rate, but the CIC Compiler GUI was configured to have a minimum rate of '8'. The work-around in this instance was to pass a rate value greater than the minimum programmable rate mentioned in the CIC Compiler GUI.

Note: Similar failures can occur related to other System Generator blocks in the design.
