PetaLinux 2013.04 - How do I add a custom string to "bootargs" in the device tree (DTS)?

Description

I manually modified the device tree (.dts) to add a custom string (for example "MEM=768M") to bootargs. When I "build all", the dts file gets back to the "default value" for bootargs ignoring my changes.

How do you add a custom string to "bootargs" in the device tree?

Solution

You can run make appconfig in the petalinux-dist/ directory and add the desired string to this configuration:

System Settings --->
Kernel command line --->
() kernel command line (user set)
