2013.3 Vivado - read_xdc -help provides example of command that produces errors in Tcl

Description

When running the command read_xdc -help and running the last example code snippet, the command produces an error which indicates that the Tcl provided is not formatted correctly.

The example is listed below:

The following example reads the XDC file and applies it to the specified  instances in the current design, even though they are instances of  different modules:

read_xdc -cells one_decode sixty/msbcount file_4.xdc

This produces the following error:

ERROR: [Common 17-165] Too many positional options when parsing 'file_4.xdc', please type 'read_xdc -help' for usage info.

Solution

To correct the parsing error, add brackets to group the second option as in the below example:

read_xdc -cells {one_decode sixty/msbcount} file_4.xdc

The read_xdc example text has been corrected in Vivado 2013.4 to include the curly brackets.
