LogiCORE IP Video Scaler v8.0 - Why do I see noise in output from the Video Scaler when loading a COE file with negative coefficients?

Description

Why do I see noise in output from the Video Scaler when loading a COE file with negative coefficients?

Solution

This is a known issue that affects the Video Scaler v8.0, v8.0 (Rev. 1), v8.1 and v8.1 (Rev. 1).

This issue happens when the coefficients contain negative numbers and the MEMORY_INITIALIZATION_RADIX = 10.

You can work around this problem by using binary or hexadecimal coefficients and updating the radix in the COE file to:

MEMORY_INITIALIZATION_RADIX = 2 or 16
