Vivado Design Suite - Will Vivado include the GNU readline option for listing previous commands in the Tcl console?

Description

The Vivado Tcl console can recall a command using the up-down arrows of the keyboard.

This displays the previous commands used, however, the cursor is always placed at the end of the command.

For very long command lines, the beginning of the command is not visible so it is not possible to know what command is being listed.

Is there any way to see the beginning of those long command lines?

Will Vivado include the readline option for recalling commands?

Solution

It is not planned to include the GNU readline option in Vivado to place the cursor at the beginning of the command line when it is recalled.

Another way to find out what commands have been used is by using the command:
- history
and the option
!<command_number>
This will display the previous command.
