2014.1 Vivado Processing System 7 - Selecting LPDDR2 causes a crash/hang of the GUI

When choosing LPDDR2 in the Processing System 7 configuration screen, Vivado hangs or crashes on Windows 64-bit machines.

How do I resolve this issue?

A patch is available to prevent this issue.

Patch Installation:

The are two different ways to install the patch.

Create a separate directory containing the patched files.

  1. Extract the contents of the ".zip" archive to the desired patch directory location.
  2. Set the MYVIVADO environment variable to point to the patch directory.
  3. Run Vivado from the original install location.

Overwrite the files in the existing Xilinx install area.

  1. Original files in the respective directories should be moved or renamed before copying the archived files to these locations.
  2. Extract the critical file(s) contents of the ".zip" archive to the Vivado Design Suite install that you are patching.

    (for example C:\Xilinx\Vivado\2014.1).
Files should be overwritten during the install.

  3. Run Vivado from the original install location.

NOTE: A system administrator might be required to install the Patch if you do not have write permissions to the Xilinx Install directory.

This issue is planned to be fixed in Vivado release 2014.2
