2014.2 Vivado - get_ipdefs -name does not find IPs using multi-word DISPLAY_NAME search

Description

In Vivado, I can get a list of IP from the current IP Catalog with the command get_ipdefs
.
However, if the display name of an IP uses multiple words, the IP will not be found using the -name option.

For example:

The DISPAY_NAME property for the IP is "Multiply Adder", but I cannot search for this object specifically.

get_ipdefs -name "Multiply Adder"

WARNING: [Coretcl 2-175] No Catalog IPs found

get_ipdefs -name {Multiply Adder}

WARNING: [Coretcl 2-175] No Catalog IPs found

get_ipdefs -name Multiply Adder

WARNING: [Coretcl 2-175] No Catalog IPs found

Solution

To work around this, use only a portion of the complete display name as in the following examples.
get_ipdefs *multadd*
(This is the standard form to get based on the VLNV)

xilinx.com:ip:xbip_multadd:3.0

get_ipdefs -name *Multiply*
(This is the new form to get based on the display name)

xilinx.com:ip:xbip_multadd:3.0

get_property DISPLAY_NAME [get_ipdefs -name *Multiply*]

Multiply Adder

The issue will be fixed in Vivado 2014.3.
