Vivado 2014.2 - Null pointer Exception in toggle column selection mode

Description

While editing text in toggle column selection mode, the following null pointer exception occurs:


java.lang.NullPointerException
at com.jidesoft.editor.CodeEditor.a(Unknown Source)
at com.jidesoft.editor.CodeEditor.c(Unknown Source)
at com.jidesoft.editor.CodeEditor.insertChar(Unknown Source)
at com.jidesoft.editor.action.InputHandler$bb_.actionPerformed(Unknown Source)
at com.jidesoft.editor.action.InputHandler.executeAction(Unknown Source)
at com.jidesoft.editor.action.InputHandler.keyTyped(Unknown Source)
at com.jidesoft.editor.CodeEditor.processKeyEvent(Unknown Source)

Solution

In Vivado 2014.2 this null pointer exception occurs at seemingly random times but usually under the following conditions:
 
  • Toggle Column selection mode is being used
    And
  • You select a block of code that starts or ends on a blank line and hit space.

This issue was resolved in Vivado 2014.3.
