Aurora 64b66b v9.2Rev1 or earlier - Reset condition for Hot plug counter with Simplex cores

Description

With Aurora 64B66B, the following are the reset conditions for a Hot plug counter when a valid BTF is detected.

Simplex Rx - Any protocol block-type field (BTF) will be considered a valid BTF to reset the hot plug counter.

Simplex Tx/Rx - Only a CC BTF is considered a valid BTF to reset the hot plug counter.

Duplex - Only a CC BTF is considered a valid BTF to reset the hot plug counter.

This Answer record provides updates to this logic in VIVADO 2014.3 or later.

Solution

From the 2014.3 release on, a hot plug counter will reset based on CC reception only with all data flow modes.

However for systems that require clearing of the Hot plug counter based on any valid BTF, a new parameter BACKWARD_COMP_MODE3 is introduced.

By default, this attribute is set to 0 and the core will clear the hot plug counter based on CC reception only.

This parameter is available in the <core_name>_core.v module along with other backward compatibility related parameters.
