2015.4 Install - After installing Vivado, when I try to update devices or uninstall, I get a message saying there is a missing msvcp110.dll

I have just installed Vivado 2015.4.

When I attempt to do either of the following, I get an error message stating that the application cannot start because a Microsoft redistributable library cannot be found.

  • Run "Add Design Tools or Devices 2015.4"
  • Run "Uninstall 2015.4"

The error reports that one of the following files is missing:

  • msvcp110.dll
  • msvcr110.dll
  • vccorlib110.dll

This issue can occur with the Vivado 2015.3 and 2015.4 installs.

The Microsoft redistributable libraries are not copied into the main install directory where xsetup.exe is run from. This issue will be fixed in Vivado 2016.1.

To work around the issue, do one of the following:

  • Copy the three MS libraries (msvcp110.dll, msvcr110.dll, and vccorlib110.dll) from the bin directory (for example, C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.4\bin) to the parent install directory (for example, C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.4)
  • Directly run xsetup.bat from the bin directory (for example, C:\Xilinx\.xinstall\Vivado_2015.4\bin) as Administrator.
