2016.2 Vivado IP Flows - IP pointing to XPM macros in Vivado 2016.1/2 break existing Non-project scripts

I have a Non-project Vivado script that worked without issues in Vivado 2015.4. However, in Vivado 2016.1 and 2016.2, it appears that the script is failing due to some IP cores that point to XPM macros.

In Synthesis and Simulation I get "module not found" errors for the XPM Macros.

I did not change anything in my design to start using these XPM macros, but did upgrade to the Vivado 2016.1 version of the IP in my project.

What can I do to resolve this?

The issue is fixed in Vivado 2016.3. If you are using an older release of Vivado, there are two options to enable the use of XPM macros in IP cores.

Option 1:

Add the following command to any script where the XPM macros are being called:

set_property XPM_LIBRARIES {XPM_CDC XPM_MEMORY} [current_project]

Option 2:

Add the following parameter to your init.tcl file. Then you will not need to set a property on a per project basis.

set_param project.defaultXPMLibraries {XPM_MEMORY XPM_CDC}
