Vivado 2016.1 - Zynq clg225 package - Critical Warnings related to MIO pins in Synthesis and Implementation

Description

When using the clg225 package, you might see the following Critical Message or similar in the log:

WARNING: [Vivado 12-584] No ports matched 'MIO[*]'.
CRITICAL WARNING: [Common 17-55] 'set_property' expects at least one object. [project.srcs/sources_1/bd/design_1/ip/design_1_processing_system7_0_0/design_1_processing_system7_0_0.xdc:109]
Resolution: If [get_<value>] was used to populate the object, check to make sure this command returns at least one valid object.

Solution

This is a known issue in Vivado 2016.1.

You can safely ignore these warnings as they are related to Fixed MIO which XDC does not play much of a role in. These warnings will not affect your system.
