Using Help
To Use Context-Sensitive Help
Use the following
methods to get Help on different parts of the software interface.
| Context-Sensitive Help | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Click an item, and press the F1 key. | Get help on selected menu commands, dialog boxes, processes, and areas of the interface. |
Click the "What’s This"
toolbar button  , and click the menu command or toolbar button. | Get help on menu commands and toolbar buttons. |
| Click the Help button in the dialog box. | Get help on dialog boxes. |
To Use the Help Menu
Select the following Help menu commands to access information about the software.

| Help Topics | Provides information about the ISE software, including strategic and reference information to help you create an effective design. |
| Software Manuals | Opens the Software Manuals collection, which provides ISE software reference information. |
| Xilinx on the Web > Support and Services | Opens the Xilinx Support
and Services Web page. You can also click the Support and Services
toolbar button  to open this page. |
| Xilinx on the Web > Xilinx Application Notes | Opens the Application Notes Web page, which discuss the technical details of designing for specific applications and Xilinx device features. |
| Xilinx on the Web > Open a Web Case | Opens the Xilinx WebCase page, which allows you to create a technical support case or to monitor the status of a case online. |
| Xilinx on the Web > Xilinx User Community Forum | Opens the online community forum. |
| Xilinx on the Web > Xilinx Home Page | Opens the Xilinx website. |
| Xilinx on the Web > IP Center | Opens the IP Center Web page from which you can download the latest intellectual property (IP) cores. |
| Xilinx on the Web > Download Center | Opens the Download Center Web page from which you can download Xilinx products, software updates and service packs, and device models. |
| Tutorials > ISE Quick Start | Opens the ISE Quick Start Video Demonstration Web page. |
| Tutorials > Tutorials on the Web | Opens the ISE in-depth tutorials on the Web. |
| What’s New in This Release | Lists the new features in the current software version. |
| XInfo | Opens the Xilinx System
Information (XInfo) program, which allows you to view
information about your ISE software install, including software
environment, installed software features and versions, license information,
and ISE preference settings. |
| Manage License | Opens the Xilinx License Configuration Manager, which allows you to manage your license, as described in Getting a Software License. |
| Obtain a License Key | Opens the Xilinx License Configuration Manager, which allows you to acquire a license, as described in Getting a Software License. |
| Tip of the Day | Displays tips for using the ISE software. |
| About | Shows the version numbers and registration ID for the ISE software. |
| XilinxUpdate | Searches the Xilinx website and downloads recent software service packs. |
