Adding Source Files Dialog Box
Use this dialog box to verify
and edit the associated Design View for the specified source file.
To access this dialog box, add a source file to the project using
Project > Add Source or
Project > Add Copy
of Source, and select one or more source files to add.
- File Name
Specifies the module name for the source file that you are
adding to your project. For details about source files,
see
Source File Types.
The status information is also displayed for each source
file that you are adding to the project. If an error occurs and the
file cannot be added to the project, the reason is shown next to the
source file.
- Association
Specifies the Design View to which the
module is associated. This setting determines which Design View the
source file will appear in when you select a Design View from the
Design View (“Sources for”) drop-down list in the
Design panel. HDL sources can
be associated with
Simulation,
Implementation, or
All. Test bench or simulation models
should be associated with
Simulation only.
For more information on Design Views, see
Using the Design
Views.
Note For simulation source files, including test
benches, you
must ensure that the associated
Design View is set to a Simulation view. Project Navigator automatically
selects the Design View association for simulation source files and
test benches based on the source
file name. For
more information, including how to customize this automatic selection,
see
Test
Benches.
- Library
Specifies the VHDL library in which to store the source file.
You can select either the default
work library,
or select
New VHDL Library to open the New
VHDL Library dialog box and create a custom library. For more information,
see
Working with VHDL Libraries.
