Creating a File
To Create a File
- Select File > New, or click the
New toolbar button
. - In the New dialog box, select the type of file to create.
- Click OK.
An empty file displays in the appropriate editing tool
as follows:
- A schematic file opens in the Schematic Editor.
- A symbol file opens in the Symbol Editor.
- A text file open in the text editor you are using. By default, the ISE Text Editor is used. For more information, see Specifying a Text Editor.
Note The new file is not added to your project until you save
the file and run Project > Add Source or Project > Add Copy of Source.
After creating a file, you can do any of the following:
- Add objects or code to the file. For more information, see
the Schematic and Symbol Editors Help or ISE Text Editor Help. In the Help Viewer, click the Synchronize TOC
button
to view all
related topics. - Save the file.
- Add the file to the project.
