Design View
The
Sources for drop-down list allows you to select a Design View, such as
Implementation. When you select a Design View, all of
the source files associated with that phase of the ISE® design
flow appear in the Hierarchy pane. For more information, see
Using the Design
Views.
When working with Partitions, the Number
of drop-down list allows you to select a resource type.
When you select a resource type, the number of resources in each Partition
appears in the XST and Map columns in the Hierarchy pane.
Note When setting the compile
order manually, a
Top Module field is available
underneath the
Sources for drop-down list,
as described in
Setting
a Custom Compile Order.
Hierarchy Pane
The Hierarchy pane shows
the source files that comprise the ISE project in a hierarchical
view. The following information is included in the hierarchy:
When working with Partitions, the following columns are
available in the Hierarchy pane:
- XST
Displays an estimate of the number of resources
used in each Partition, which is determined when the design is synthesized
by XST. You must specify the resource type in the Number of drop-down list. This column is updated each
time the design is synthesized.
- Map
Displays the number of resources in each Partition,
which is calculated when the design is mapped. You must specify the
resource type in the Number of drop-down list.
This column is updated each time the design is mapped.
- Preserve
Displays the level of preservation associated
with each Partition. The preservation level is determined by the Partition
Properties. For information about setting the preservation level,
see
Setting
Partition Levels.
Note For more information about using Partitions, see
Using Partitions.
In the Help Viewer, click the Synchronize TOC
button
to view all
related topics. Processes Pane
The Processes pane shows
the processes available for the source file selected in the Hierarchy
pane. For example, you must select the top module

to run the Implement Design
process. From the Processes pane, you can run processes, as described
in
Running and
Stopping Processes. You can also set properties that affect
each process, as described in
Setting Process
Properties.
As the software processes your design, output
appears in the Transcript window. You can find out more information
about the processes that were run by checking this output, as described
in
Using the
Console, Errors, and Warnings Panels.
