Generating a Target PROM or ACE File
The Generate Target PROM/ACE File process uses the output from the Generate Programming File process, a BIT or ISC file, to create a PROM or ACE file that can be downloaded into the memory cells of an FPGA from an external processor, PROM, Flash, or System ACE™ CF configuration storage solution. The Generate Target PROM/ACE File process runs iMPACT in the background to generate the target PROM or ACE file. The file is generated according to the settings in an iMPACT project (.ipf) file saved from an iMPACT session.
Note Alternatively, you can generate a target PROM or ACE file when you run the Configure Target Device process. By setting the Automatically Run Generate Target PROM/ACE file process property for the Configure Target Device process, a PROM or ACE file is generated each time the Configure Target Device Process is run.
To Generate a Target PROM or ACE File
  1.  In the Design panel, select Implementation from the Design View drop-down list. Image
  2.  In the Hierarchy pane, select the top module Image.
  3.  In the Processes pane, expand Configure Target Device.
  4.  Optional.  Right-click on the Generate Target PROM/ACE File process, and select Process Properties. In the Generate Target PROM/ACE File Properties dialog box, specify an iMPACT project file (IPF) for the iMPACT Project File property.
  5.  Double-click Generate Target PROM/ACE File.
iMPACT opens, and one of the following occurs:
    •  If an .ipf file is available and it contains appropriate PROM or ACE file information, the PROM or ACE file is generated.
    •  If an .ipf file is available and it does not contain appropriate PROM or ACE file information, you are prompted to open the iMPACT project corresponding to the .ipf file, add information to the PROM file formatter, or System ACE CF, and save the iMPACT project (.ipf) file
    •  If an ipf file is not available, you are prompted to open an iMPACT project, add information to the PROM file formatter, or System ACE CF, and save these settings in a new iMPACT project (.ipf) file.
  6.  If necessary, double-click Generate Target PROM/ACE File to run the process again.
The target PROM or ACE file is generated.
