10. Where can I learn more about skills assessments?
1. Who should take the skills assessment?
You, when considering which courses to take or if you're curious about your skill level. Of course, there is no obligation to do so, and you may skip the skills assessment and register for a course anyway.
2. After completing an assessment, how can I register for courses?
Although skills assessments are offered via the Online Training Catalog, you should register for courses through your local Authorized Training Provider (ATP).
3. Why should I complete a skills assessment?
To save time. Why spend your
valuable time attending a class on material with which you are already experienced? Complete a skills assessment to inventory your skills and determine whether a particular course is right for you.
4. Are there other benefits to taking a
skills assessment?
Absolutely! Take the skills assessment after completing a course to determine
how much incremental knowledge you've gained.
5. Is there a fee?
No! It's free. You can register for skills assessment through
the Online Training Catalog.
6. How much time will the assessment take?
About 5-15 minutes to answer all the questions. Your score (percentage of questions answered correctly) is immediately calculated and presented to you.
7. How is Pass/Fail defined?
A passing grade is a score of 80% or higher. If you're familiar with at
least 80% of the course content , you won't significantly benefit from
taking the course. On the other hand, if you're unable to answer at least
four out of every five questions correctly, you should attend the class
to increase your individual productivity. Ultimately, the decision is
yours.
8. Who has access to my assessment results?
No one but you and Xilinx. Your score is viewable and stored for future
review within the Transcripts window. In addition, you can select View Results to determine which questions you answered correctly
or incorrectly. The correct answers to the questions, however, are not
revealed. To view your score, simply use your username and password when
logging in to the Online Training
Catalog.
9. How often may I take the skills assessment?
You may assess your skills as often as you like to
help you better determine whether you would benefit from attending a course. Xilinx recommends that you reassess your skills
after completing a course to compare your post-course score with your
pre-course score.
