Global Educational Ecosystem


Annually, Xilinx funds over $500K benefitting education, 75 percent of grants are dedicated to core science and technology programs, with 25 percent focused on enrichment programs (arts, social studies, health education, community services, etc.). Hands-on volunteer services provided by Xilinx employees and educational ecosystem partners are a pivotal element of the program's success

Through this funding and volunteerism, over 8,200 students are impacted every year in twelve schools across four countries. Students experience the impact through programming provided by nonprofits, service learning in conjunction with employees, as well as infrastructure improvements that have ranged from a smart boards for teachers to portable computer carts for students to a sanitation system so the school had working bathrooms.


The Educational Ecosystem is an integrated and articulated grant process supporting linked learning and pathways promoting science and engineering. The company's vision is to influence the transformation of science and technology education in the 21st Century through dedicated partnerships between educators, community leaders, corporations and non-profit organizations.

In 2007, Xilinx established a K to Corporate Public-Private Partnership model that provides funding and services to public schools near the company's San Jose headquarters – including Oster Elementary, Union Middle School and Leigh High School. Since the inception of the program four additional neighborhood schools have joined the Xilinx Educational Ecosystem in San Jose along with schools near Xilinx sites worldwide (Longmont, CO; Dublin, Ireland; Hyderabad India and Singapore).

To date the program in San Jose, where the model is the most robust, has been recognized and received awards from the Santa Clara County Office of Education, ACSA (Association of California School Administrators) Silicon Valley Community Foundation and California School Board Association.
