Together, our employees around the world made a positive impact on communities in need during the holiday season through financial means, donating physical goods and volunteering their time. From North America to Europe to Asia Pacific, our employees gave globally and acted locally.
With natural disasters occurring back to back in 2017, our employees rose to the occasion and participated in the Xilinx Special Campaign for a corporate match of their donations to the American Red Cross. Collectively, Xilinx gave a total of $47,000 in support of the catastrophic hurricane season and $37,000 in support of the disaster relief efforts for the recent Napa and Sonoma county fires. Xilinx’s global offices also contributed financially in their local communities. The San Jose, CA office partnered with the onsite gym to challenge our employees to give thanks and get moving in the month of November by logging all miles walked and/or ran. In honor of the 47 teams registered and 16,236 miles logged, a grant of $5,000 was donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo County, equating to 10,000 meals for the community. The Hyderabad, India office raised $1,120 (Rs 78000) for two water filters that were installed in two local schools. Employees there also supported the Project Parivartan for Women's Self-Help group by encouraging employees to purchase 60 diyas (oil lamps) for Diwali celebrations, raising a total of $113 (Rs 7200). Our San Jose and Singapore offices sponsored holiday events in their communities, including Christmas in the Park in Downtown San Jose and a Charitree decorated by employees and displayed on the Promenade at Singapore’s Marina Bay.
Several of our offices contributed to more smiles for children by donating gifts to their communities. San Jose collected 300 gifts for the Family Giving Tree; Longmont, CO collected 125 gifts for Kindness for Kids; Dublin, Ireland collected 100 gifts for St. Vincent de Paul; and Hyderabad collected two large bins of toys for Thara. In addition to gift giving, the San Jose office helped community members in need of warmth by collecting 1,840 pounds of winter clothing, benefitting Sacred Heart Community Service.
In addition to donations, employees came together and gave their time to benefit their local communities. San Jose employees made 100 winter kits for the homeless, benefitting Downtown Streets Team; donated 75 chew toys for animals at the Humane Society; and made 500 holiday goody bags for children at Silicon Valley Children’s Fund, NextDoor Solutions and Sacred Heart Community Service. The Chicago, IL office spent an afternoon working at the Humanitarian Service Project stacking, boxing, organizing and loading holiday presents for children and families in need.
The XilinxGives team would like to thank our employees for their kindness and making it possible for Xilinx to help charitable organizations around the globe.
