Senior Vice President, Central Products Group

Vamsi Boppana leads Central Products Group at Xilinx, a global organization with more than 1,600 silicon, software, and IP engineers to design and support core products for customers.

Building groundbreaking technologies that meet customer demands in diverse applications, such as 5G wireless, driver assistance, and data center, is a passion for Boppana. He is particularly excited about developing Versal Adaptive Compute Acceleration Platform (ACAP). This fully software-programmable, heterogeneous compute platform achieves dramatic performance improvements of up to 20 times today's fastest FPGA implementations and over 100 times those of the fastest central processing units (CPUs).

Before moving into his current role in 2019, Boppana was Corporate Vice President, Silicon and Systems Development at Xilinx. During his previous 10 years at Xilinx, Boppana has been instrumental to product leadership and for building a high-performance global organization of talented and passionate people. He led silicon development of industry-leading products such as Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC and drove the highly successful 16nm UltraScale+ silicon program to production.

Prior to Xilinx, Boppana held engineering management roles at Open-Silicon and at Zenasis Technologies, a company he co-founded. He began his career in advanced technology development at Fujitsu Laboratories of America.

He earned a Bachelor of Technology degree, with honors, in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, and Master of Science and Doctorate degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. The author and co-author of over 40 technical papers, he has received six patents for his designs.
