SED Systems has been designing and creating reliable and effective communication products and solutions for over 50 years for satellite and cable markets. Through our history we’ve developed a solid portfolio of FPGA designs with associated software and hardware that provides SED with a solid technical baseline for new developments. More recently SED has been an active participant in CableLabs and developed a complete suite of DOCSIS physical layer technology.

Through Xilinx, SED makes available DOCSIS cores that allow customers to develop various products in HFC Cable networks including Distributed Access Architecture products like Remote PHY, Remote MAC/PHY, and FDX Remote PHY. The cores also help enable development of headend products like digital modulators, CMTS, and CCAP products. These cores can be customized, augmented, or realized on hardware through Design Services engagements.

Our work is based on proven designs and algorithms, and it evolves to meet customer’s requirements. We help our customers minimize implementation risk and reduce time to market. SED has the experience to design for and meet strict NRE and recurring cost targets. We understand that meeting key targets including a quality product that’s delivered in a timely manner is vital for our customers.

When developing solutions, SED assembles a dedicated team of engineers for the project who are responsible for the work. The team follows a structured and methodical design process that includes analyzing requirements, generating and validating architectures, implementing hardware, firmware and software designs, plus defining and executing a suitable test/validation program. We make extensive use of modeling and simulation tools to validate our algorithms and design.

SED operations are located in a fully secure facility including state of the art manufacturing facility. We can quickly and efficiently prototype new developments, as well as, manage recurring requirements.
