Video conferencing and telepresence systems are moving into converged products, which handle real-time analytics, video transport over local or wide area networks, and provide an immersive display experience. Image processing with 4K video, providing minimal latency needs to be balanced against efficient bandwidth utilization through compression to keep costs down without sacrificing quality. Providing a configurable system is also highly attractive with a variety of sensors and displays, supported through various connectivity protocols.
Xilinx offers a platform for complete integration at both end-points and multipoint control units (MCUs), enabling differentiation through novel video and image processing algorithms, developed around key infrastructure IP for MIPI, DisplayPort, HDMI and other video/imaging connectivity. This platform also enables integration of IP for wide dynamic range (WDR), analytics for speaker detection and tracking, and broadcast quality compression.
Xilinx 7-series, UltraScale™ FPGAs, and particularly the new Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC with integrated features such as H.265/HEVC and H.264/AVC Video Codec, are ideal for developing highly integrated video conferencing equipment with reduced cost, reduced power, and high performance.
