Use the following strategies to help with design debugging:
- Use JTAG ports
JTAG ports allow you to send test signals
and can help with soldering and connectivity checking. This also allows
you to connect the hardware interfaces needed to use debugging tools,
such as ChipScope™ Pro software. For example, you can instantiate
the BSCAN component and build logic to verify functionality in the
- Cold spray or heating element
Use these devices for system-level
debugging, such as quickly checking for timing issues and potential
signal integrity (SI) issues. If your design functionality varies
with regard to temperature, there may be a timing violation in the
design. In this case, double-check your timing simulation.
- Low capacitive probes
Make these probes available to
get an accurate measurement of signal characteristics.
