The Xilinx® Alveo™ U30 is a low-profile, PCIe-based media accelerator card that delivers a high-density real-time transcoding solution for live streaming video service providers, OEMs and Content Delivery Network (CDNs).
The U30 accelerator card is available as a part of the Xilinx Real-Time Video Server appliance reference architecture – High Channel Density edition - through Xilinx’s channel of OEM and VAR partners.
Today’s video service providers are faced with the challenge of managing infrastructure costs while simultaneously improving customer quality of experience (QoE). Powered by the Zynq® UltraScale+™ MPSoC, a power-optimized all-programmable system-on-chip (SoC) with integrated video codec and graphics engines for ultra-high-definition video, the Alveo U30 supports both HEVC (H.265) & AVC (H.264) as well as 2 x 4K60/ 16 x 1080p30 simultaneous channels.
The Xilinx High Channel Density video appliance reference architecture is based on eight Alveo U30 accelerator cards and provides the lowest possible cost per channel and highest channel density in a single rack. The appliance combines complete Docker container and Kubernetes management capabilities to enable easy scale-out deployments.
The Alveo U30 card is targeted at video workloads using FFmpeg, a leading multimedia framework. Xilinx has integrated key video transcoding plug-ins into FFmpeg, enabling simple hardware offloading of compute-intensive workloads.
