General Description: Upon starting MXE, I encounter the following error message:
"Licensing checkout error with feature XE-EVAL-VHDL"
Though there's clearly a problem, the MXE licensing diagnostic tool reports that a valid license exists.
Solution
If you have acquired a permanent (as opposed to evaluation) license, make sure that you did not install an evaluation version of MXE. The install program will give you the option to either "Install MXE" or "Evaluate a ModelSim Product." Make sure the version you install correlates to the type of license you have.
If the license file is valid but it does not match the installed version of MXE, this error occurs. (For example, if the valid license file is for the full version of MXE-VHDL, but the installed version is MXE-Eval, the error appears.)
This is because the MXE license diagnostic tool only checks for the validity of the license file. It does not compare the compatibility between the license file and the installed version.
