JTAG Programmer does not support CoolRunner devices. To bypass a CoolRunner device in a JTAG chain, follow the steps below. To program a CoolRunner device, use the iMPACT (available through WebPACK or your Xilinx ISE software installation).

To place a CoolRunner device in Bypass mode:

1. In JTAG Programmer, go to Edit -> Define Device.
2. Set the IR length for CoolRunner IR to 5. (For information determining the IR length, please see (Xilinx Answer 10850).)
3. In the Chain Operations window, set the newly defined device to "Bypass".
