The following information documents how to include the CORE Generator batch mode in an XFLOW compile process.

Solution

The steps to include COREGen batch mode in an XFLOW compile are:

1. Set the CORE Generator Project Preference to automatically overwrite output files.
2. Create a single <design>.xco
3. Modify the FPGA.FLW file to include COREGen batch mode.
4. Modify the OPT file to include COREGen batch mode.

1. Set the CORE Generator Project Preference to automatically overwrite output files.
Open the COREGen GUI and set the Project Preferences to automatically overwrite output files. This will allow COREGen batch mode to update the core netlists and other outputs as necessary with each run of XFLOW.

2. Create a single <design>.xco.
For each core you create in CORE Generator, a <component_name>.xco file is created. Concatenate all the XCO files into one file and name it <design>.xco, where <design> is the name of your top-level design. This can be accomplished using the following commands:

PC:
type <mod1>.xco <mod2>.xco ... <modN>.xco > <design>.xco

UNIX:
cat <mod1>.xco <mod2>.xco ... <modN>.xco > <design>.xco

If you need to change the options for a core, make the edits in the <design>.xco file, not the original <component_name>.xco.

3. Modify the FPGA.FLW file to include COREGen batch mode.
Edit the FPGA.FLW file in your project directory, and add the following program block just before the NGDBuild program block:

4. Modify the OPT file to include COREGen batch mode.
Edit the OPT file you plan to use and, add the following program block just before the NGDBuild program block:

-b <design>.xco;
End Program coregen

Run XFLOW as usual using the new FLW and OPT files.
