4.1i Install - An installation hangs when Windows 98 or Windows ME goes into Power Saver Monitor mode
Keywords: install, ISE EVAL, Power saver, lock, up, hang, Windows 98
General Description: During an installation, my machine locks up when Windows Power Saver Monitor Mode shuts down the monitor, which forces me to reboot completely.
The Power Saver mode can cause this on some computers. This happens at an interval, depending upon the on Power Saver's "minutes" setting. Screen Saver-only modes work properly, and the install screens will reappear.
The resolution is to temporarily disable Power Saver Mode, which may be found in the Windows Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Power Saver; it may also be in Monitor Settings. On some PCs, you may need to modify the BIOS at system boot time.
