4.1i Project Navigator - Re-targeting to a different device family causes certain process properties to become invalid

Keywords: properties, default, device, family

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
If I change the target device family for an existing project, Project Navigator does not immediately update the values of certain process properties to the correct default values for the new family. When I run the Implement process, default settings from the previous family are used. Project Navigator (or the implementation process) then reports errors if any properties are unsupported or out of range.

For example:

If I switch between an XC9500 and an XPLA3, the synthesis option "Flatten Hierarchy" should be OFF by default for the XC9500 and ON by default for the XPLA3. If a design is switched from targeting an XPLA3 to targeting an XC9500, the "Flatten Hierarchy" option may still be checked.

If this occurs, simply close the current project and reopen it. This allows Project Navigator to reload the correct default values for the selected family.

This issue has been fixed in the 5.1i software release.
