4.1i Virtex-II MAP - Crash occurs during unrelated packing

Keywords: unrelated, packing, SPRAM

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
MAP crashes while running unrelated packing. It was found that for a specific case, the failure occurred during the unrelated packing of SPRAM halves.

Unrelated packing (combining logic with no common signals) only occurs when it is necessary to fit the device or when it is forced by the use of the map -c switch.

This problem will be fixed in the first major release after 4.1i.

When the error occurs during RAM packing, the following environment variable can be used to avoid the error, as it instructs MAP to construct RAM RPMs rather than using the default packing mechanism:

setenv XIL_MAP_V2RAMRPMS 1 (Workstations)
