AR# 12830: 4.1i CORE Generator - ERROR: "The built-in repository is not a valid repository" occurs when illegal characters are used in the short form company name
4.1i CORE Generator - ERROR: "The built-in repository is not a valid repository" occurs when illegal characters are used in the short form company name
Keywords: IP Capture, repository, COREGen
General Description: When CORE Generator starts up, the following error message is issued:
"The built-in repository is not a valid repository."
COREGen then does not display any cores after a core is installed that has been packaged by the IP Capture tool.
One situation where this has been observed is when characters other than a-z, A-Z, 0-9 and "_" were specified in the short company name field when capturing a core that was subsequently installed into the CORE Generator.
To work around this problem:
1. Delete the entire subdirectory that was created for the captured core in your CORE Generator tree. This is usually located under $XILINX/coregen/ip/xilinx/.
2. Re-capture your IP and select a name for the "Short Company Name" field that includes only alphanumeric characters ("a-z", "A-Z", "0-9") and underscore characters ("_").
The tool will now check for illegal characters in the short company name field. This fix is contained in 4.2i IP Update #2, which is scheduled to be released at the end of March, 2002.
