4.1i Floorplanner - Floorplanner ignores my HMAP (Spartan-XL)

Description

Keywords: Floorplanner, 4.1i, HMAP, MFP

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
After I run PAR with an MFP file, I see that the placement of an HMAP function in the .mfp file was ignored. When I view the design in FPGA Editor, the editor indicates that the HMAP function was not used.

This only occurs when I use the MFP flow.

Solution

1

This problem occurs because, when the MFP file is saved in Floorplanner, the following line is written into it:

FG CLB_R10C2.H.H

This can be seen after the file is saved as an .mfp file and opened in a text editor.

To work around this problem, open the .mfp file in a text editor and delete the ".h" at the end of the line, so that it reads as follows:

FG CLB_R10C2.H

Then, run the MAP process. When you view the design in FPGA Editor, it should be utilizing the HMAP function.

2

Instead of using the MFP Flow, use the UCF Flow.
