2002.a LeonardoSpectrum - When the "-- synopsys translate_off" directive is used, the software hangs

Description

Keywords: Leonardo, 2002a, synopsys, translate, hang, freeze, COREGen

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When CORE Generator components are instantiated in the code and the following line is included:

-- synopsys translate_off
configuration cfg_perm_dcf of perm_dcf is
.
.
-- synopsys translate_on

the software hangs or freezes when this file is run.

Solution

This occurs when lower-level configuration statements are used in conjunction with "translate_off" and "translate_on" directives. When the configuration statements with the directives are located on the top level, the design works successfully.

To work around this problem, do not use the "translate_on" and "translate_off" directives:

For example:

-- synopsys translate_off
configuration cfg_perm_dcf of perm_dcf is
.
.
-- synopsys translate_on

You may still use the configuration statements; simply omit the "--synopsys translate_off" lines. This will not cause a failure in LeonardoSpectrum, as the configuration libraries are part of the Xilinx tools. Leonardo may report warnings about these statements, but these messages can be safely ignored.
