*Obsolete* 4.1i SP3 iMPACT- Grounding TDO causes a Dr. Watson error, and the screen fills with devices (long chain)

Description

Keywords: iMPACT, chain, long, TDO, ground

Urgency: Standard

General Description:
When initializing my Boundary Scan chain in iMPACT, many (hundreds) of devices appear in my JTAG chain; then, a Dr. Watson error is reported.

Solution

This will happen if TDO is grounded between the last device in the chain and the Parallel or MultiLINX Cable. Check the connectivity of the JTAG chain, and verify that the last device in the chain is working correctly.

A future release of iMPACT will detect this condition and provide a more descriptive error message.
