Solution

This error occurs when the XILINX_GNUTOOLS variable is not set to the correct value.

It should be set to the location in which the GNU tools were installed.

For example:

C:\Xilinx\GNU_STD (Windows)
/V2PDK/tools/solaris/gnu (Solaris)

To set the variable:

Windows 2000/NT:
- Right-click on the "My Computer" icon on the desktop.
- Scroll down to and select "Properties."
- Select the Advanced tab.
- Select the "Environment Variables" button.
- Add a variable called "XILINX_GNUTOOLS" with a value of the path to where the tools were installed in the user variables section.

Solaris:
- Add "setevn XILINX_GNUTOOLS <path>" to your user configuration file (.cshrc, if you use C-shell) (You must log out and log back in for the change to take effect); you may also simply type this in the terminal you will use.
